Nontoxic pesticide or insect repellant for vegetable garden. My kale keeps getting eaten…holes everywhere, all the time! 🙁 Not sure which bug is doing that. Also would be nice to know how to keep black ants from crawling all over my young honey mandarin tree. Thank you!

    • Bo Jangles says:

Diatamacious Earth: It is basically very fine microscopic shards of glass, that get ingested by insects and cause them to internally bleed. No pesticide, this is the safest and most effective non-toxic pesticide out there.

My little, new orange tree in an oak barrel has dark brown spots on the underside of the leaves. they are probably eggs of a pest. do i need to clean every single leaf of the eggs/spots by hand or is there something organic I can use that is safe for the orange tree and also for myself to use?

Also, this year I started over 100 green bean seeds in peat pots that never sprouted. so then I sprouted two packs of seeds between wet kitchen towels in the dark, (cabinet) they sprouted and i planted them by hand in a nice, raised bed filled with Miracle Gro bagged soil. only half or less grew and i kept them moist with lots of warm sunshine. (California, northern area) Do you have any idea why I am having such bad luck with green beans this year? Bush beans, every year I have tons of them, this year they all seem to just die. Was this a bad year for packets of seeds? I bought several different brands, including EXPENSIVE organic bean seeds. just have about 25 tiny sprouts out of six full bags of seeds.
